1. Acceptance

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

3. Eligibility and age requirements

3.1 General use

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account and use the Service. If you are under the age of digital consent in your country (for example under 16 in parts of the EEA), you may use the Service only with verifiable parental or guardian consent where required by law.

3.2 Financial features (stricter age rule)

The following features are intended only for users aged 18 or older (or the minimum age at which you may legally enter binding contracts and receive monetary payouts in your jurisdiction):

• Buying coin packs (Apple In-App Purchase or Google Play Billing on Android).
• Maintaining a withdrawable coin balance and requesting cash withdrawals.
• Linking payout destinations (such as UPI IDs) for withdrawals.

By using financial features, you represent that you meet this age requirement and that all payment and payout information you provide is accurate and belongs to you.

3.3 Capacity

You must have the legal capacity to enter this agreement and comply with all applicable laws in your location.

4. Description of the Service

Sudo News is a news and engagement platform that may include, without limitation:

• Aggregated news articles, categories, translations, and saved articles.
• Quiz Arena — skill-based, article-linked solo quizzes. Outcomes depend on knowledge and performance, not luck alone (see Section 11.2).
• A virtual coin economy, wallet, streaks, power-ups, and leaderboards.
• Cash withdrawals — eligible coin balances may be converted to UPI payouts on iOS and Android where the feature is available (see Section 9).
• Referral rewards.
• Push notifications and in-app announcements.
• Sudo AI — an AI assistant for chat, article analysis, and related features powered by server-side models (primarily DeepSeek; optionally OpenAI or Gemini depending on configuration), with optional web search (Serper/Tavily).

Features may change, be added, limited, or removed at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

5. Account registration and authentication

You may sign in using:

• Email and password;
• Google Sign-In;
• Sign in with Apple (where available);
• Phone number (SMS one-time password).

You agree to:

• Provide accurate information and keep it updated.
• Maintain the confidentiality of your credentials and device.
• Notify us promptly of unauthorized access.
• Complete phone profile setup (display name) when required after phone sign-in.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, pose security or fraud risk, or are disabled by administrators (“pause login”).

6. Virtual coins and wallet

6.1 Nature of coins

“Coins” are a limited, revocable, non-transferable virtual balance used inside the Service. Your wallet shows one total balance, which combines two kinds of coins:

• Winnings (server field earnedCoins) — earned from platform-funded activities such as quizzes, streaks, predictions, verification, referrals, and engagement milestones. Only winnings may be withdrawn under Section 9.
• Purchased (server field purchasedCoins) — credited only from Apple In-App Purchase or Google Play Billing (where enabled). Purchased coins are for in-app use (for example power-ups) only, are non-refundable except through the store’s process, and have no cash value. They cannot be withdrawn.

Coins are not legal tender, cryptocurrency, e-money, or a stored-value instrument outside the Service.

6.2 Ownership

Coins remain part of the Service’s virtual economy. You receive a limited license to use coins within the Service subject to these Terms. You do not own coins as property separate from your account.

6.3 Coin history

Credits and debits are recorded in a server-side ledger (`transactions`) and shown in the app as coin history, purchase history, and withdrawal history.

6.4 Earning coins (Winnings)

You may earn winnings through activities such as (you never pay to enter these reward-earning activities):

• Correct quiz answers (subject to daily limits for free and premium users).
• Daily login streaks and legacy streak milestones.
• Engagement milestones (for example completing daily quiz goals).
• Referral program rewards (subject to program limits).
• Promotional grants from the Operator.

Earning rates, caps, and eligibility rules may change. We may reverse coin grants obtained through error, abuse, or fraud.

6.5 Spending coins

You may spend coins on in-app features such as:

• Power-up shop items (for example ad-free periods, extra quiz entries, multipliers).
• Engagement chest rewards after completing defined daily quiz milestones.
• Other features we designate in the app.

All coin spends are final except where required by law or expressly stated otherwise.

7. Buying coins — Apple In-App Purchase (iOS)

• On iOS, coin packs are sold as consumable In-App Purchases through Apple’s App Store. Product identifiers follow the pattern `com.sudonews.app.{sku}` (with occasional versioned overrides for legacy SKUs).
• Prices are displayed in your App Store currency. Coin amounts include any advertised bonus coins for the selected pack.
• Purchases are verified on our servers via Apple transaction data before coins are credited to your Purchased balance. Duplicate or invalid transactions are rejected. Purchased coins cannot be withdrawn and are not convertible to cash.
• Payment is processed by Apple. You agree to Apple’s terms and payment policies for In-App Purchases.

8. Buying coins — Google Play Billing (Android)

• On Android, coin packs are purchased through Google Play Billing (where enabled in the app).
• Pack prices are denominated in Indian Rupees (INR). The standard buy rate implemented in our backend is ₹0.10 per coin (for example 100 coins for ₹10), plus any bonus coins shown for the pack.
• Purchases are verified on our servers before coins are credited. Duplicate or invalid transactions are rejected.
• Payment is processed by Google. You agree to Google Play’s terms and payment policies for in-app purchases.

9. Withdrawals and cash payouts

9.1 Eligibility and availability

Withdrawals convert eligible coin balances into cash payouts where the feature is enabled, subject to verification, fraud checks, and applicable law. You must meet the 18+ financial eligibility requirement in Section 3.2.

Withdrawals are a core feature on both iOS and Android native apps. They are accessed from the in-app Wallet (and related payout settings). We do not disable withdrawals on iPhone or iPad as a default product policy — eligibility depends on your balance, payout details, limits, and compliance review, not on platform alone.

9.2 Minimum withdrawal

The default minimum withdrawal is 1,000 winnings coins, unless we change this in app configuration or display a different minimum in the wallet UI. Only your Winnings balance counts toward withdrawal eligibility.

9.3 Flat sell rate (winnings only)

Withdrawals use a flat sell rate applied only to winnings (not purchased coins). The default rate is 10 coins = ₹1 payout, unless we change this in app configuration. Payout is calculated from the winnings amount you request using that rate.

9.4 Limits and cooldown

• Cooldown: at least 24 hours between withdrawal requests.
• Daily limit: default maximum of 1 withdrawal request per day (Delhi/IST calendar day where applicable).
• We may require valid UPI or other payout details and verify identity before paying.

9.5 Processing

Withdrawal requests are recorded in `withdrawal_requests` and may require manual or automated review. Payouts are processed manually to your UPI after review, or held in pending/rejected states if verification fails, fraud is suspected, or details are incomplete. Processing times vary and are not guaranteed instantly.

9.6 Ad gate (when enabled)

Our systems include optional withdrawal ad-unlock markers. The current production client may not enforce a rewarded-video gate; we may enable such a gate in future versions with notice in the app.

9.7 Taxes

You are responsible for any taxes, duties, or reporting obligations arising from withdrawals or rewards in your jurisdiction. We may withhold or request documentation where required by law.

10. Refunds

10.1 Apple In-App Purchases

All App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Refund requests for In-App Purchases must be directed to Apple through Apple’s standard refund process. We cannot credit coins for Apple transactions that Apple refunds or revokes.

10.2 Google Play purchases

Google Play coin purchases are generally non-refundable once coins are credited, except where required by applicable consumer law or where we expressly agree in writing (for example duplicate charge or verified technical failure without coin delivery). Refund requests for Play Store purchases must be directed to Google through Google Play’s standard refund process where applicable. Contact support@sudonews.co with order/payment IDs.

10.3 Virtual spends and earned coins

Coins spent in the app (power-ups and other in-app features) are deducted from Purchased coins first, then from Winnings if needed. Purchased coins and coins spent in-app are not refundable. Winnings are not refundable except through the published withdrawal rules.

11. Quiz Arena rules

11.1 Solo quizzes

• Quizzes are generated from news articles and pre-generated question banks.
• Daily attempt limits apply (for example 10 for free users and 50 for premium users — as configured).
• Rewards per correct answer and diminishing daily withdrawable caps may apply.
• Quiz history is stored in your account.

11.2 Skill-based educational contests — not gambling or games of chance

Sudo News is not a casino, lottery, sweepstakes, or real-money betting service. Its primary rewarded gameplay — Quiz Arena — is designed as a skill-based, news-literacy contest for solo play:

• Article-linked questions: Quiz content is tied to news stories you can read in the app. Rewards depend on whether you answer correctly, within session rules and published daily limits.
• No luck-only outcome for core quizzes: Solo quiz coin grants are calculated from your performance (correct answers, scores, and published reward tables). They are not awarded by random draw for the primary quiz result.
• Anti-cheat: Bots, answer sharing, and exploitation void results and may lead to balance adjustments, withdrawal blocks, or account action.
• Engagement milestones: The app may award fixed virtual-coin bonuses when you complete defined daily actions (for example daily quiz goals). These rewards are deterministic, not chance-based, and do not replace skill-based quiz scoring.
• Free participation: Users may take solo quizzes within free daily limits without purchasing coins. Buying coins or power-ups may enhance access but does not convert the Service into a game of chance.

You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with local laws on skill contests and virtual rewards. If unsure, seek independent advice before using withdrawals.

12. Referral program

• Each user may receive a unique referral code to share with new users.
• Default rewards (subject to change in app configuration): referrer 50 coins, referee 20 coins, with a referrer lifetime earnings cap of 5,000 coins.
• A referee may apply a referral code only once. Self-referrals and fraudulent sign-ups are prohibited.
• We may withhold or reverse referral rewards obtained through abuse.

13. Sudo AI assistant

• AI responses are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or inappropriate. They are not professional, legal, medical, financial, or investment advice.
• Do not rely on AI output for decisions that could harm you or others. Verify important facts from primary sources.
• You are responsible for prompts you submit. Do not submit unlawful, harmful, or infringing content.
• Conversations may be stored in your account for approximately seven days (see Privacy Policy) and processed by third-party AI and search providers.
• We may rate-limit, suspend, or disable AI features for abuse, cost control, or safety.

14. User content and profile

• You retain ownership of content you submit (for example profile photos, display names, chat prompts), but grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, display, and transmit it as needed to operate the Service.
• Profile photos must not violate law or third-party rights. We may remove images or suspend accounts for violations.
• Profile photo changes are limited to one successful update every 3 days.
• Usernames/display names must be unique where claimed; reserved names are blocked.

15. Prohibited conduct

You must not:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation.
• Create multiple accounts to abuse rewards, referrals, or withdrawals.
• Use bots, scripts, emulators, or automation to scrape, farm coins, or manipulate quizzes.
• Circumvent security, reverse engineer, or interfere with servers or other users.
• Submit false payout or identity information.
• Harass, impersonate, or infringe others’ rights.
• Upload malware or attempt unauthorized access to Firebase, admin, or payment systems.

16. Fraud prevention, suspension, and termination

• We may flag accounts (`fraud_flag`), block withdrawals, pause login (Firebase Auth disabled), reverse coin grants, or terminate access if we suspect fraud, abuse, chargebacks, or Terms violations.
• You may stop using the Service at any time. You may delete your account in-app (see Account & data deletion).
• Upon termination, unused virtual coins may be forfeited except where withdrawal or refund is required by law and permitted by account status.

17. News content and third-party links

News headlines, excerpts, thumbnails, and links are provided for discovery. Publisher content remains the property of respective owners. We do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or availability of third-party articles. Your use of external sites is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

18. Intellectual property

The Service, including software, design, branding, and original materials, is owned by the Operator or licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for lawful personal use in accordance with these Terms.

19. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION, ACCURATE NEWS OR AI OUTPUT, OR THAT WITHDRAWALS WILL PROCESS WITHIN A SPECIFIC TIME.

20. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE OPERATOR AND ITS AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR VIRTUAL COINS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR DIRECT DAMAGES SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR COIN PURCHASES IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) INR 5,000, EXCEPT WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW.

21. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Operator from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, violation of these Terms, violation of law, or infringement of third-party rights.

22. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to mandatory consumer protection in your country of residence, courts located in Basti, Uttar Pradesh, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or the Service.

23. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The revised Terms take effect when posted with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated in-app or by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
